A screening of this 1-hour documentary at the historical Whiteside Theater in Corvallis will be the inaugural event of the 2015 Starker Lecture Series.  It highlights the compelling story of the 19th century Scottish botanist/plant hunter who first classified the namesake tree that is a Pacific Northwest icon.  The film’s production was sponsored by the Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission, a nonprofit educational organization, in cooperation with agencies, scholars and scientists in North America, the United Kingdom, Hawaii, and France.

Director and Historian Lois Leonard will be on hand after the film for a Q&A session.
